MALUMA

24/06/2023

Maluma is the stage name of award-winning Colombian pop singer, songwriter and rapper Juan Luis Londoño Arias. The pop urbano with the sweet, grainy tenor voice and streetwise yet romantic demeanor managed to cross over from reggaeton audiences to the mainstream thanks to infectious early singles like "Obsesión" and "Miss Independent" (whose videos also went viral).

His 2012 debut "Magia" brought him to the attention of radio listeners throughout Latin America, while 2015's "Pretty Boy, Dirty Boy" broke through in the U.S., landing in the upper echelons of the Latin Pop, Urban and Tropical charts. Since then, Maluma has usurped world domination with a steady stream of videos, chart singles and hit albums like "11:11" (2019) and "Papi Juancho" (2020). He was also the subject of the documentary "Maluma: Lo Que Era, Lo Que Soy, Lo Que Seré." His success continued into the next decade, when he topped the charts in 2021 with the single "Sobrio," starred in Jennifer Lopez's romantic comedy "Marry Me" in 2022, and released the "Love & Sex Tape."

TOKISCHA

23/06/2023

Emerging in the late 2010s with a hedonistic take on trap and dembow, Dominican rapper Tokischa made her commercial breakthrough in 2021, releasing high-profile collaborations with reggaeton hits like J Balvin ("Perra") and Rosalía ("Linda").

Born Tokischa Altagracia Peralta Juárez, Dominican rapper Tokischa grew up in the Los Frailes neighborhood of Santo Domingo and studied visual arts and playwriting as a teenager. During her career as an aspiring model, she crossed paths with photographer Raymi Paulus, who encouraged the then 20-year-old to focus on her singing talent. Impressed by her first studio sessions, Paulus signed her to his Paulus Music label to launch a solo career as a musician. Tokischa began her career with a confident, trap-driven sound: she debuted in 2018 with "Pícala." In 2019 and 2020, she moved into the spotlight with a series of collaborations: Eladio Carrión, Rochy RD and Jamby El Favo. The artist, who quickly gained attention for her unique vocal style and heavily sexualized verses, shifted to dembow and reggaeton in the early 2020s, beginning 2021 with "Tukuntazo" and "Yo No Me Voy Acostar." Her breakthrough came later that year with the J Balvin collaboration "Perra" - a reference to the image of the bitch in heat. A second major-label collaboration with Rosalía was even more successful, "Linda," which saw the duo team up for a hard-hitting back-to-back smash to close out the year. In 2022, she continued this commercial breakthrough with the Marshmello-produced dance floor hit "Estilazo," the second Rosalía collaboration "La Combi Versace" and even a single with pop icon Madonna ("Hung Up"). The raunchy "Delincuente," with verses by Anuel AA and Ñengo Flow, became one of their biggest hits to date.

LYANNO

24/06/2023

A Latin urban artist with a yearning, confident vocal style inspired by contemporary R&B stars like Trey Songz and The Weeknd, Lyanno became one of Puerto Rico's rising artists in 2018, featured on hits like "Toda [Remix]" by Alex Rose and "Luz Apaga" by Ozuna.

Born Edgardo Cuevas Feliciano, Lyanno originally recorded as a teenager under the name Gardo, emphasizing reggaeton over all other styles. He turned to contemporary R&B in 2015 with "Fruto Prohibido" and refined his approach in the following years with S.O.D.A. and Am, two EPs of ballads rooted in trap productions. These releases were notable for their lack of guest appearances, but Lyanno was not shy about co-starring roles. In 2018, he drew attention with a remix of Alex Rose's "Toda," Ozuna's "Luz Apaga" (on which he was featured alongside Rauw Alejandro) and Lunay's "A Solas." The first of these three titles was particularly successful, as the official video was viewed more than 500 million times within a year. Throughout 2019, Lyanno made numerous appearances and also released the solo-only song "Pa' Que Vuelvas," a return to reggaeton.

BRYTIAGO

Brytiago has been a significant presence on both the reggaeton and trap scenes since his recorded arrival on Daddy Yankee's Cartel label in 2016. Possessed of a smooth tenor and laid-back style, his infectious melodies offer a compelling contrast to trap's edgy, slippery beats, layered production, and urbano swagger as evidenced by the nine-times-platinum-selling "Asesina" with Darell, and its quadruple platinum remix with Daddy Yankee, Ozuna, and Anuel AA. In addition to the hit singles, his vi

Brytiago was born Bryan Cancel Santiago in Carolina, Puerto Rico in 1992. Before he ever sang, he was a lyricist; from a very early age he charted his experiences in rhyming verses. At age eight, he met and was photographed with Daddy Yankee; unbeknownst to either man, the seeds of their relationship were planted and would unite them professionally 14 years later. As a teen, Brytiago developed his singing, songwriting, and dancing skills by poring over YouTube videos from artists he admired. Years after meeting Yankee, a friend re-introduced him to the older artist, who agreed to audition his demos in his Cartel label studio. After that hearing, Yankee took his number and told him to expect a call. Brytiago didn't, but it came a few months later, and in 2014 he signed to Cartel. It took nearly two years of preparation, but Brytiago dropped a whopping 13 singles for the label in 2016 including "Bebe" and "Punto G" (feat. Darell). While none of his earliest tracks charted, "Me Ama Me Odia" eventually went platinum and his videos did exceptionally well thanks to a push from social media. In November of that year he was part of the Los Eleven cooperative for the release of “Wise the Gold Pen Presents: Trap Miami” that hit number six on the U.S Latin Rhythm chart. The 2017 remix of

LOS 4

24/06/2023

Damián and Jorgito founded the group Los 4 de Cuba in 2009. They were joined by singer El Príncipe and young pianist Frank Palacios. Although not common in the reguetón scene, this lineup helped create the band's unique sound. "At first, Jorgito wasn't too keen on the idea of having a piano in the group," Frank recalls, "but Damian and I convinced him! People were used to Reguetón music being produced by a DJ, so we gave it a broader spectrum with the piano," he adds.

With their mix of reggaeton and Cuban timba, the group soon gained a following among the island's youth. The hits "Igualito," "Señorita Intelectual" or "Motorola" became classics overnight. In 2009, the band even had a successful European tour. The band makes a special effort with the lyrics, the traditional language of the island and its slang reflect the special cultural background. Musically, the band tries to act in the same way: "We try to keep the simple essence of Cuban music, which has been lost since the nineties, when the music was not so complicated," explains Frank. After numerous collaborations with top Cuban artists such as El Micha, Bamboleo, Charanga Habanera and Yulien Oviedo are Los 4, often referred to by their fans as "Los Salvajes", they returned in 2018 with the hit "Dicen Por Ahí".
